Meet Ruby! This sweet, playful girl is an inquisitive little adventurer who loves exploring the world around her. She’s a big fan of crinkle toys, squeakers, tug, and catching toys, although food might just be her greatest love of all! She especially enjoys cod skin treats, along with just about any other snack you can offer. Ruby also loves sniffing, digging in the sand, and collecting sticks on her walks. She’s very treat motivated and enjoys learning new things, making training a fun way to spend time together.

Ruby is a smart, social puppy who enjoys meeting new people, dogs, and neighbourhood children. She’s been introduced to elementary school-aged kids and is always excited to say hello. She previously lived with a cat and did well, and she’s generally curious and friendly when meeting other dogs, although she can get excited and pull toward them on walks. She currently enjoys three walks a day, which are mostly opportunities to sniff, explore, and take in her surroundings. She’s also done well on outings to stores and is comfortable in the car, usually settling down for the ride. Ruby is working on her house training and learning a variety of commands, including sit, down, stand, paw, and place. She also does well in her crate overnight and for daytime naps.

As a young puppy Ruby is still learning about the world and will benefit from consistent training, structure, and routine as she grows. She can be a little nervous around loud or unexpected noises, such as a dog barking behind a fence, and is still getting comfortable with things like putting on her harness and having her paws wiped. She’s also working on her leash manners and may pull toward people, dogs, and small animals she wants to investigate or chase. Ruby has shown some resource guarding around food-filled toys, so her future family will need to respect her boundaries and continue working on positive trading techniques rather than reaching for or taking items away. She would thrive with a family who can keep her clever mind busy with training and enrichment alongside walks and playtime.
